If you are expecting a newborn baby, it can be hard to google and find the right photographer for you. Since every Pittsburgh based photographer offers different options, I want to share more about having a newborn session with me! I offer two types of newborn sessions, lifestyle and studio. Both are great options! Either I can travel to your home for a lifestyle session that focuses a little more on family connection in your home, or you can travel to my small and comfortable home studio for portraits that focus a little more on your baby.
Pittsburgh Newborn Sessions with Laura Mares
During my lifestyle sessions, I focus on four types of shots.
- Natural Newborn Portraits
- Connection Focused Family Portraits
- Pet + Sibling Portraits
- Detail Shots
Natural Newborn Portraits
I focus on capturing natural pictures of your newborn in a well-lit space. Sleeping or awake, we simply follow your baby’s lead. These photos could be captured on your bed or in a crib. I love to include parent’s hands and swaddle blankets to add interest and texture.
Connection Focused Family Portraits
For family pictures, I focus on capturing the joy on your faces. In addition to receiving beautiful portraits focusing on love and connection, it also makes the session more fun! It makes sense really, do you want to laugh and engage with your family or have a frozen smile plastered on your fact while you sparkly stare at a camera? I will guide you through the session to help you feel comfortable and relaxed.
Pet + Sibling Portraits
I encourage your child(ren) to snuggle and marvel over their new baby sibling, whether that involves holding them or playing with their little toes. Since pets are a special part of the family, I love to include them in the photos, however they want to be involved!
Detail Shots
Last but not least are the detail (or close up) shots. These details could include images of your baby’s tiny features, the way the fit in your arms, their little gestures, even their hands, feet, and eyelashes. I look to capture detail shots either when they are calm resting in bed or if they’re a little fussy, while they’re awake and in your arms.
