A Day in my Life as a Pittsburgh Photographer

  • Post author:

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills my kitchen, and a familiar scent signals the start of my day as a photographer. My daily routine blends the creative with the practical, the thrill of a photo shoot balanced with the focused work of editing, client communication, and continuous learning.

MY MORNING ROUTINE

Each morning, my day begins with a warm cup of coffee and a dedicated time to journal. Investing in personal growth is key for me, so mornings often involve delving into industry publications or online masterclasses. Whether it’s photography or business strategies like marketing and client management, I’m always seeking ways to enhance my skills and better serve my clients. My mornings wouldn’t be complete without addressing my emails with everything from inquiries from potential clients to sending off client galleries.

THE EDITING PROCESS

Whether it’s a recent family portrait session brimming with genuine connection, a delicate newborn photoshoot capturing precious details, or a senior portrait session highlighting individuality, each image holds the potential to become a treasured memory. I meticulously adjust colors and tweak contrast in Adobe’s Lightroom and Photoshop applications..

CREATING CONTENT

Once a week, I dedicate time to writing a blog post. I like to share photography tips, insights into my creative process, or behind-the-scenes glimpses into recent projects in hopes to keep my audience engaged. Updating the blog with fresh content is crucial for attracting new clients and sharing my work.

Social media plays a vital role in this ongoing conversation. Eye-catching snippets from recent shoots and captivating travel photography along with engaging captions on Instagram and Facebook further connect with potential clients and aim to build a thriving online community.

PHOTOSHOOTS

A typical week includes 2-3 shoots. Each offers a unique opportunity. From capturing the joy of families to the polished image of a corporate headshot, I thrive on the collaborative energy and the chance to translate a client’s vision into reality. Whether it’s a wedding where every detail matters or a storytelling editorial spread pushing creative boundaries, each shoot allows me to think outside the box and document meaningful images.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

I hope this glimpse into my day conveys the multifaceted nature of being a photographer. It’s a profession that demands technical skills and clear communication as well as constant dedication to your creative voice. While capturing beautiful images is undeniably rewarding, it’s the combination of the pursuit of learning, strategic planning, and unwavering passion for storytelling that truly fuels the fire.

Let's tell your story!

If you are looking for a photographer, let’s work together to create beautiful images that you can treasure for a lifetime!
