Why Your Home Could be the Best Backdrop for Your Newborn Photos

Your place or mine?

The first few weeks of having a newborn baby can be both magical time and overwhelming at the same time. Between the feedings, the diaper changes, and the lack of sleep, it can be tough to find the time or energy to do anything else, let alone plan a newborn photo shoot. Planning your newborn shoot a few months before your baby’s delivery provides the peace of mind.

If you are interested in having newborn photos taken, you may be wondering if you should do them in a studio or at home. There are pros and cons to both options, but if you’re looking for a more relaxed and comfortable experience, I recommend having them done at home.

Why your home could be the best backdrop for your newborn photos:

comfort and convenience

One of the biggest benefits of having your newborn photos taken at home is that it’s much more comfortable and convenient for both you and your baby. You don’t have to worry about packing up all of your baby’s gear and heading out to a studio. You can also relax in the comfort of your own home and take breaks whenever you need to.

natural light

Studios often have artificial lighting, which can be harsh and unflattering on newborns. Your home, on the other hand, has plenty of natural light, which is much more flattering and will help to create beautiful, soft photos.

personal touches

Your home is a reflection of your personality and style. By having your newborn photos taken there, you can incorporate personal touches that will make the photos even more special. For example, you could use your baby’s nursery as a backdrop or include some favorite toys or blankets in the photos.

siblings and pets

If you have other children or pets, having your newborn photos taken at home will make it much easier to include them in the photos. This can be a great way to capture the special bond between your newborn and their siblings or pets.

connetion focused

Lifestyle newborn photography focuses on capturing the in-between moments and authentic emotions of the first few weeks with your new baby. This is often best done in the comfort of your own home, where you, your newborn, and your family can relax and connect with one another.

Or my home studio could be best for your newborn photos:

newborn focused

Studio portraits focus on capturing your baby’s natural expressions and tiny features.

light control

Newborn photography relies heavily on light. A studio environment provides complete control over lighting, to create soft, diffused light that flatters baby’s delicate skin. This is crucial for achieving timeless, natural portraits that parents cherish.

temperature control

Newborns are sensitive to temperature changes, and a studio setting allows for maintaining a consistent, comfortable temperature throughout the photoshoot. When your baby is comfortable it allows us to focus on capturing natural moments without interruptions.

between homes

Many families opt for newborn portraits in studio when they are in the process of moving. If you home is not an option, mine could be the solution!

In conclusion

I hope this blog post has given you some ideas for why your home could be the best backdrop for your newborn photos. You can decide which type of newborn session is right for you. In my opinion it is best to do a little planning and preparation in the months before your baby arrives. Either in studio or at home, let’s capture beautiful and timeless photos of your newborn for you to cherish for years to come.
