They say time flies when you’re having fun, but for me, time is measured in tiny yawns, sleepy stretches, and the quiet magic of a newborn’s first few days.

I am so incredibly humbled to share that for the 10th consecutive year, I have been recognized among the top professionals in my field. You can see the full 2026 rankings and the criteria for selection at Expertise.com’s list of the Best Newborn Photographers in Pittsburgh.

A Decade of Wisdom: 10 Things I’ve Learned

When I first started this journey, I knew I wanted to create more than just “pretty pictures.” I wanted to provide Pittsburgh parents with a safe, professional, and heart-centered experience. To be featured on a resource like Expertise.com—an organization that hand-selects professionals based on reputation, experience, and professionalism—for ten years straight is a milestone I don’t take lightly.

It’s a reminder that the standards I set for my studio a decade ago still ring true today. Whether it’s staying up to date on the latest newborn safety techniques or ensuring every gallery is delivered with perfection, my goal has always been to be the photographer I would want for my own family. But more than the award itself, I’m reflecting on why I’ve been able to stay on this list for ten straight years

In honor of 10 years as a “Best of Pittsburgh” photographer, I wanted to share the 10 core truths that define how I work today.

1. Babies Run the Show

You can have a perfect “vision” for a portrait, but if the baby wants to stretch or snuggle a certain way, that’s where the magic is. I’ve learned to follow their lead.

2. Safety is the Only Priority

This is a huge part of why Expertise.com vets photographers so heavily. Beautiful photos mean nothing without a baby’s comfort and safety protected.

3. Patience is a Superpower

Some of the most iconic shots in my portfolio happened in the final 10 minutes of a session. I never rush the process.

4. The "In-Between" Moments are Gold

While the classic portraits are timeless, it’s often the quiet photo of dad gazing down at his newborn in pure awe that makes mom tear up.

5. Preparation is the Secret Sauce

Whether in my cozy studio or in the comfort of your home, thoughtful preparation makes all the difference. A warm, calm environment, gentle white noise, and a full belly set the stage for a relaxed, sleepy, and beautifully successful session.

6. It’s More Than Just a Photo

I’m not delivering a digital file; I’m preserving a memory of a time that will feel like a blur just a few weeks from now.

7. Every Baby has a Personality

Even at just a few days old, some are calm observers and others are feisty explorers. I love getting to “meet” who they are.

8. The Details Tell the Story

Those tiny eyelashes and the soft curl of hair at the nape change before you even realize it. I look beyond the pose to focus on the subtle features and expressions that define this season—preserving the details parents don’t yet know they’ll miss most.

9. Parents Need a Guide

Most new parents walk in—or welcome me in—running on very little sleep and a whole lot of love. Whether we’re in my studio or in the comfort of your home, I gently guide you toward soft light and natural connection, creating space for you to simply be together—so you can see the beauty and strength everyone else already sees.

10. Trust is My Greatest Honor

Photographing a newborn requires immense trust. Nurturing a calm, supportive connection with each family—through guidance, patience, and presence—has been at the heart of my work and the reason I’ve remained on this list for 10 years.

To My Clients: Thank You

While the Expertise.com badge is a wonderful seal of approval, the real “award” is seeing a baby I photographed a decade ago—whether in the studio or during a lifestyle session at home—now as a big brother or sister. To the families who have welcomed me into your homes and trusted me with your most precious “firsts” since year one: thank you. You are the reason I strive for excellence every single session. Here’s to the next ten years of capturing family’s story!
