What to do with your Senior Photos

Okay… I know a lot, I mean a lot, of people who have a large collection of photos stored away in some dusty old bin, pictures that haven’t seen the light of day since the moment they were printed. We have all rationed with ourselves that there must be a better way, but always have put it off because we simply were not sure where to start. I am here to tell you that there are many unique, and beautiful ways to showcase your photos. In fact, there are five of them! – Laura, Pittsburgh Senior Photographer

Make a Scrapbook

Now this one is a personal favorite of mine. I think that it would extremely fulfilling to have a nice collection at the end of your senior year full of all the best memories. Plus you can take it with you to share new friends in whatever adventure you begin after your senior year of high school. In additional to your senior session photos, you could include pictures from:

  • First Day of School
  • Picture of you holding your Freshman picture
  • Homecoming
  • Holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day, Easter
  • Winter formal
  • You working at your job
  • You and your favorite teacher from senior year
  • Candid pictures of you at your favorite locations around Pittsburgh
  • Volunteering
  • You with your besties
  • You with your family
  • You and your car
  • Prom
  • Senior trips
  • Last day of school
  • Graduation
  • You at the college you are going to

In your scrapbook, try using washi tape, stickers, and old concert and movie tickets along with your cherished pictures to create a artistic scrapbook for you to cherish forever. Consider printing and adding screenshots from some of your favorite phone conversations with your high school friends.

Make Meaningful Gifts

A great gift for friends and family would be prints from your senior session. I personally often use the website, Artifacts Uprising. They have beautiful products. Some that I have used in the past would be their Brass easel and calendar, gallery frames, and photo books. I really love their high quality products, and how well they exhibit the beauty of the photos. I also love using mpix. They have a huge variety of creative gifts. Some of my personal favorites would be their ornaments, accordion mini’s, wooden prints, and Premium Panoramic Photo Books. People love receiving your professional l photos, I think they would be best for grandparents and faraway relatives. The gifts also have the potential to be more special than just a simple print, and are sure to be treasured by whoever you choose to give it to.

Frame Them

Framing your favorites from the senior portage session is the best possible way to show off and display them. I personally love wood, simple frames and how they can really make the images pop. Now, it is up to you if you want to frame the pictures yourself, or go the professional route. Now, there are four reasons why to get them professionally framed. 1. Protect your art. Custom framing with archival components is the best way to ensure your items last as long as possible in the best condition. 2. Make the Frame Work for Your Art (Not the Other Way Around!) The same way you wouldn’t purchase a pair of jeans that don’t quite fit, the same goes for framing artwork. Ready-made frames seriously limit your options, since you don’t have the ability to choose frame and mat combinations or special treatments that might best complement the content. I really would suggest going to Level Frames.

Create a Canvas

People often comment on the amount of canvases around my home. I really love how they make our portraits look like paintings! Make sure to get high quality canvases. I like Mpix for my personal canvases. These are often nice to fill up an empty space in a room, and really blow up the details of the senior photos. I often use them admits other decor to act as an anchor for the grouping.

Artistically Display Art Prints

I love buying small art prints because there are an infinite amount of ways to creatively display the photos around the house. For starters, you can hang them inside vintage suitcases, geometric wall grids, or even on old slabs of wood. That’s what I do 😉 You can order the square art prints from Artifact Uprising and I love how small art prints allow you to print all of your favorites, so you can alternate which ones you have on display. I think that this is the perfect option for the extreme creatives, because you really are able to constantly change the reuse the images and present them in cool, fun ways!

So, I hope that these 5 tips help you as you decide how to share and display your senior session portraits. That can be with the scrapbook, a highly personalized collaboration of all of your highlights from senior year, or even as a sweet and thoughtful gift. Additionally, you can frame your prints, or have it professionally put on a canvas. Or, if you love being creative, artistically display your art prints in your own way.
