Some seniors radiate a spirit that’s impossible to miss, and Nina is truly one of them. Ever since first meeting her at school events years ago, her fun, bubbly, and spunky personality has stood out. Watching her grow into a confident athlete, leader, and young woman made photographing her senior year especially meaningful. Her final year of high school has been filled with long-awaited traditions, championship moments, and the joyful energy she brings to everything she does—from cheer to lacrosse to the senior festivities she’s dreamed of since freshman year.
At our first session, my daughter joined as an assistant, and we even celebrated afterward with a mother–daughter ice cream date—one of those sweet behind-the-scenes moments that make sessions unforgettable. During each of her photoshoots, Nina effortlessly blended her wild-and-free vibe with a more refined, elegant style, allowing me to capture portraits that beautifully reflect all of her sides.

your senior year
What’s one thing you’ll always remember about your senior year?
I’ll always remember the senior festivities that I’ve waited for since being a freshmen. Like the senior boat ride, senior sunrise, senior night for all my activities, and prom. They are such special experiences and having to wait for my big day for each makes them all more cherishable memories.

Which activity, class, or moment had the biggest impact on you?
I believe cheer had the biggest impact on me because I participate in it almost year round and had to learn how to become a better athlete and role model through the years. It’s also felt like such a fun and close environment where I can be myself while working to better myself and my team.

How would the people who know you best describe who you are right now?
I’m described as a fun, bubbly, spunky, and sweet person. I’m full of life and energy and love socializing, hearing, and seeing what everyone has to offer!

What accomplishment from high school are you most proud of?
I am most proud of becoming a two time WIPAL champion for lacrosse. Hopefully three time this year! But I’m most proud of this because I had to learn how to work my way up into becoming a better athlete and being able to start in the games. It taught me a lot about myself and my drive.

What’s something you’ve learned about yourself during your senior year?
I always stay positive through every up and down moment. Every time something isn’t as planned I’ve learned to keep a smile on my face and carry on because it will all work out in the end.

your senior photo session
How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Exotic, girly, fun

What kind of vibe were you hoping your senior photos would capture?
Fun, wild, and free vibe almost like a free people magazine for my first session. And in my second, I wanted a little more traditional but mature with sophisticated vibes.

What drew you to Laura Mares Photography for your senior portraits?
Her pictures are very professional and can capture any tone and vibe you’re going for. I was also recommended to go to her through friends and family.

Did you have a favorite location, moment, or part of the session?
I loved it all truly. I felt like the star and loved getting some time to be free and come up with a set of pictures perfect for me.

What parts of your personality are captured in your senior photos?
My bubbly personality is captured through my fun smiles and poses for sure.

Which portrait is your favorite?
My traditional studio portrait because it’s the one you see in the yearbook and is very elegant and classy.

My Pittsburgh roots have definitely made me full of spunk and shaped me into a hard working person.

The unknown. I can’t wait to just see where I end up and what’s to come for me. I hope to accomplish a lot and learn many new things along the way.
