A Little Late Sharing This Unexpected News

Sometimes good news gets tucked away in the middle of everything else going on in life. That’s what happened with this. Back in July, while I was traveling in Colombia, I received an email from FeedSpot letting me know that my blog had been included in two of their 2026 lists:

#1 on 20 Best Lifestyle Photography Blogs to Follow in 2026

#3 on 15 Best Pittsburgh Photography Blogs to Follow in 2026

I was surprised when I first heard the news, and then life carried on. Somehow, it’s taken me until now to share it. A little late, but still worth sharing.

The stories behind the photographs

For more than two decades, I’ve been photographing people and the stories that make up their lives. Somewhere along the way, writing became another way to explore what keeps me interested in this work.

It’s not just the photographs themselves, but everything around them. The little details, the connections between people, the places that hold memories, and the ordinary moments that become the ones we want to remember.

My blog has become a place to share some of those observations, along with interviews from recent sessions, favorite locations around Pittsburgh, and lessons I’ve learned over the years.

Sometimes I sit down with a particular idea in mind. Other times, a post begins with a photograph, a conversation, or something small that caught my attention.

Always something to notice

I’ve always been curious about the world around me. I think that’s part of what drew me to photography in the first place. There’s always more to notice when you slow down and look a little closer.

That curiosity still shapes the way I work, whether I’m photographing a family in their home, a senior looking ahead to what comes next, or a unique moment I happen to document while traveling.

Writing gives me another way to follow those threads and share what I’m thinking about. I never quite know who might come across a post or what they might take away from it. I just hope that something in it resonates, offers a useful idea, or encourages someone to see something familiar a little differently.

An unexpected encouragement

Learning that my blog had been recognized on both lists was an unexpected encouragement. Writing has become another way for me to explore the stories, places, and small details that draw me to photography.

You never quite know where something you share might lead. It’s a good reminder to stay curious, keep making photographs, and share the things that feel worth sharing.

If you’ve read a post, followed along, or invited me to photograph a part of your story, thank you. I’m glad our paths have crossed. And if you’re new here, welcome. I hope you find something that speaks to you.
