Let’s face it, vacation planning is a delicate dance. My husband spends weeks meticulously crafting the perfect travel experience for our family. Flights, hotels, activities – everything is researched and booked well in advance. Me? Sometimes inspiration strikes at the eleventh hour. This time, it was a breathtaking lavender field in Quebec that catapulted to the top of my bucket list just days before our departure. To my surprise, my ever-organized husband not only managed to squeeze it into our itinerary, but it turned out to be the highlight of the trip! So, here’s the story of how we got lost (in the best way possible) in a lavender field at La Maison Lavande.
How a lavender field stole my heart
Our Quebec family vacation was filled with bustling cityscapes, delicious poutine, and charming historical sites. Nestled amongst these experiences was a hidden gem – La Maison Lavande, a lavender field bursting with fragrance and tranquility. Stepping into the fields felt like entering a scene straight out of a travel magazine. Rows upon rows of lavender stretched towards the horizon, their vibrant purple hues contrasting with the cloudy blue sky. The air itself was infused with the calming scent of lavender, instantly transporting us to a world of serenity.
Our kids were also captivated by the vibrant purple landscape. They ran through the rows, their laughter echoing amidst the gentle hum of bees. We spent a delightful lazy morning exploring the fields, each corner offering an opportunity to capture a unique memory. Our photos documented our family’s fun: the youngest striking silly poses amongst the lavender, while the teenagers captured their own photographs. These pictures will forever hold a special place in our family album, a reminder of this beautiful day.

But La Maison Lavande isn’t just a feast for the eyes, there is also a bistro featuring lavender-infused treats. We indulged in refreshing iced lavender coffee, perfectly balancing the floral notes with a touch of sweetness. The scones were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The subtle lavender adding a unique twist to the classic treat. My youngest daughter, a lemonade enthusiast, devoured the lavender lemonade, declaring it her new favorite. Even my husband and son surprised us by enjoying a lavender frozen yogurt – the vibrant purple color definitely adding to the fun factor!
The lavender field also housed a charming boutique brimming with lavender products. From fragrant soaps and candles to lavender syrup, it was a treasure trove for all things lavender. Unable to resist, I picked up a bottle of lavender syrup, already imagining all the delicious recipes I could create with it back home.

After a few hours, we reluctantly left the lavender haven behind. The lingering scent of lavender clung to our clothes, a sweet reminder of our special day. La Maison Lavande isn’t just a pitstop on our vacation itinerary; it was an experience that rejuvenated us. We left feeling relaxed, reconnected as a family, and with a newfound appreciation for the simple beauty of nature.
If you’re ever planning a trip to the Province of Quebec, I highly recommend adding La Maison Lavande to your itenuary. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of life, offering a sensory experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated. And who knows, you might just discover your new favorite lavender-infused treat!
