As a photographer, my favorite sessions are always the ones that have a little extra heart behind them, and Caitlyn’s senior session was exactly that. We spent an afternoon exploring the historic grounds at Hartwood Acres, which turns out to be special for her family—it’s actually where her parents got engaged and had their own photos taken!
When she’s not working hard on the soccer field, Caitlyn is incredibly down-to-earth, friendly, and sweet. She wanted her photos to feel both elegant and completely true to her easy-going vibe. We had a great time exploring the mansion grounds, following the light, and incorporating her dogs in on the session! She is planning to study Elementary Education after graduation. I am excited to share a peek behind the scenes. Follow our conversation below!
Which activity, class, or moment had the biggest impact on you?
Soccer. I play for my high school varsity team as well as Beadling. My closest friends are people I met playing soccer.
How would the people who know you best describe who you are right now?
I’m described as a hard worker, dedicated, dependable, friendly, and quiet.
How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Three words that describe me are athletic, comfy, and casual.
What kind of vibe were you hoping your senior photos would capture?
A whimsical, elegant, and timeless vibe.
What drew you to Laura Mares Photography for your senior portraits?
Laura had taken a family friends senior pictures and they were so nice. I loved how she really brought out their personality
What parts of your personality are captured in your senior photos?
I love my dogs, I am an outdoorsy person, and I am easy going. I think Laura really captured that in my pictures.
Did you have a favorite location, moment, or part of the session?
I loved getting my pictures taken at Hartwood Acres. My parents got engaged at the mansion and had their wedding pictures taken there. It is a special place for our family.
Which portrait is your favorite, and why?
It is so hard to pick, I loved all of my pictures. I would have to say the picture with my dogs in it. It was just a beautiful setting and I loved that I was able to incorporate my dogs in the pictures.
What’s your favorite thing about growing up in the Pittsburgh area?
There are so many places you can go to. There is always something going on.
Is there a Pittsburgh spot, neighborhood, or view that feels meaningful to you?
My favorite spots are Mt. Washington or PNC park. Both spots you can see how beautiful our city really is.
How do you think your Pittsburgh roots have shaped who you are?
Pittsburgh is a city where people are willing to help their neighbor. My parents always taught my brothers and I to help others and always be friendly to everyone.
What are you most excited about as you take your next steps after graduation?
I am very excited to go to college and study Elementary Education.
What goals or dreams are you looking forward to exploring in the future?
I would love to travel to Italy and Ireland someday. I also look forward to becoming a first grade teacher.
