Your senior year is a milestone to capture. It’s a special moment to document exactly who you are right now.
Two years ago, I stood in this exact location photographing Jaycob’s older brother. Returning to this familiar backdrop felt less like a photo session and more like continuing a family tradition. This time around, the landscape belonged completely to Jaycob.
Jaycob is a man of few words, the kind of guy who simply lets his actions do the talking. As we walked along the trails, the quiet spaces between us felt natural. His grounded, nature-loving personality didn’t need a lot of dialogue to come through. Instead, it showed up in the easy way he moved through the outdoors and the calm, honest perspective he carries into this big chapter.
Here is his story, told through his words and the moments we captured along the way.

Looking Forward & Reflecting on High School
What he’ll always remember: The close bonds and daily memories made with his friends as they start this final year together.
The biggest impact: Wrestling. The sport has played a role in shaping his high school experience and building his work ethic.
True character: Those who know him best describe him as quiet, responsible, and caring. He’s the kind of guy who lets his actions do the talking.
Proudest accomplishment: Jaycob worked ahead academically so he could start his senior year taking half days, needing only two credits each day. That is some serious planning ahead.
Lessons learned: Growth. Looking back at the start of this chapter, Jaycob recognizes just how much he has grown as a person to get to this point.

The Photo Session
Personal style: Outdoorsy, simple, me.
The session vibe: Outdoorsy. Jaycob wanted a look that felt natural, relaxed, and true to his everyday self.
Choosing Laura Mares Photography: Credit goes to his mom, who brought him to me after our session with his brother a few years back!
Favorite part & portrait: A simple, sun-drenched spot next to a tree with the sun beaming through the branches. Jaycob felt this specific moment captured his personality best, making it his favorite portrait of the session.

Pittsburgh Roots & Future Dreams
Hometown pride: The genuine closeness of the local community.
Meaningful spot: A local rock climbing spot, which perfectly aligns with his love for the outdoors.
Pittsburgh roots: Growing up around here gave Jaycob a strong sense of community, making him feel like he truly belongs.
The next step: Looking ahead to life after graduation brings a mix of feeling both excitement and nervousness, a natural feeling for any senior.
Future goals: Jaycob is looking forward to a career as an electrician.
