During quarantine I had the opportunity to revamp the studio with a fresh coat of paint on the walls, update the floor, and new props. It was finished just days before I received an email requesting a newborn lifestyle shoot in the studio from a super sweet new mom. It was a wonderful experience photographing a newborn again, even if I needed to wear a mask and stay at a distance!

How did you and your spouse meet?

Bryon and I met at the gym while attending the University of Pittsburgh.

What was your baby’s height and weight at birth?

Our newborn is 20 inches and 6lbs 15oz.

Describe how your life has changed once you brought home your newborn baby.

Our life has completely changed for the better! Bryon and I had been anxiously waiting 9 months to bring our little miracle into the world. While we are no longer getting a full night of sleep, we wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Tell me a little about your experience during the delivery.

My delivery was thankfully very normal with no complications. I was in labor for 17 hours and pushed for 2 hours. Bryon Anthony was born at 11:26am on July 1, 2020.

Describe your newborn baby.

Bryon Anthony is the most loving and cuddly newborn. He loves to snuggle with his mom and dad. He hates to be hot and when he has the hiccups.

What do you enjoy about living in the Pittsburgh area?

We love that Pittsburgh has so much to offer, for example, great sports, food, community, education, and shopping. We also enjoy that Pittsburgh is only a quick drive to other cities like Philadelphia and Cleveland.

What are your family’s favorite things to do in and around Pittsburgh?

We love to take long walks and hang out at parks. We also enjoy going to sporting events.

Describe a typical day in your life with your newborn baby.

A typical day consists of waking up, nursing, and going for a walk. The rest of the day is essentially a repeat of eat, play, and sleep.

If you were stranded with your newborn what are the three things you’d hope to have with you?

All I’d need is my husband, a camera, and a swing.

If you could share 3 pieces of advice with your younger self (before having a baby) what would they be?

  1. Enjoy the pregnancy more, it goes by so fast.
  2. Travel as much as you can before you have a baby.
  3. Save more money because you’ll want to buy your child everything.

How did you decide to schedule a newborn session with Laura Mares Photography?

I was referred by a friend.

What was your favorite part of your newborn photo session?

Just being able to do a photo shoot with my husband and newborn.

What is your favorite portrait from your lifestyle session? Explain why it’s your favorite.

I love the photo of baby Bryon looking up at my husband and I. It captures the love between the three of us.
